How is the economy impacting your community?

I stumbled upon this article on MyCentralJersey.com that suggested less expensive homes are selling better in today's market than estate homes. While, certain counties continue to grow it would only stand to reason that now might be the right time to push forward with redevelopment plans slated for the areas in greater need. What are your thoughts? What changes (if any) have you seen in your own community?
